Bio
Dr. Helen Runyan began her higher education pursuit at the age of 35 with three children. At the time, as a stay-at-home mom, she had only a high school diploma. Today she holds a B.S. in Psychology from Regent University, as well as both an M.S. and Ph.D. in Counseling from Old Dominion University. She also is now a mother of six.
Runyan insists that it is because of her faith in His promises, that she has found a passion for school counseling and educating counselors. It is her earnest desire to see students understand how to apply their own Christian worldview to counseling in an ethical manner. To this end, she challenges her students to critically analyze their Christian foundation juxtaposed to their current learning, and welcomes them to challenge her along the same lines. Runyan believes the best way to gain knowledge and wisdom is to give it away, and she aims to pursue this, not only in the classroom, but also in associations, conferences and publications.
