Jonathan Hoover, Ph.D.

Bio

Dr. Jonathan Hoover serves as the Program Director of the M.S. in General Psychology program at Regent University and is an Assistant Professor. He also serves NewSpring Church in Wichita, KS, as Senior Associate Pastor and Director of Leadership Training and Team Culture. Dr. Hoover earned his Ph.D. in Industrial & Organizational Psychology from Grand Canyon University, his M.S. in General Psychology from Regent University (summa cum laude, Outstanding Graduate Award), and his B.S. in Psychology with an emphasis in Christian Counseling from Liberty University (summa cum laude).

Dr. Hoover’s research interests center on two areas: (1) chronic stress and coping, and (2) interpersonal stimulus perception and affect awareness. His scholarship has been published in the Journal of Psychology and Christianity, the Journal of Workplace Behavioral Health, and the Journal of Psychology and Theology. He serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Workplace Behavioral Health and is the author of “Stress Fracture: Your Ultimate Guide to Beating Burnout” (Bethany House, 2024).

Dr. Hoover recently developed the HSPARC (Hoover Stimulus Perception and Response Capture) system, a laptop computer-based research device designed to capture synchronized participant input and video data for psychological research. The system is currently being replicated for laboratory use at Regent University.

Dr. Hoover and his wife, Wendy, who also serves on staff at NewSpring Church, have two daughters, Cheyenne and Summer.
