Regent University Professors Earn Prestigious National Awards for Their Contributions to Academic Excellence and Advancement

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (Dec. 15, 2022) – Regent University is pleased to announce the national recognition of three of its faculty members from the Honors College and the College of Arts and Sciences. These distinctions celebrate the work of outstanding professors and their impact on the future of education.

“These honors speak volumes about the commitment of Regent University’s skilled faculty to transform the lives of those they teach,” said Dr. Simon Tarr, Dean of the Regent University Honors College. “Our recipients are humbled by the acknowledgement and consider it a privilege to inspire Regent students to chase excellence.”

The recipients of these recent awards are as follows:

Dr. Jacob Wolf received the “Excellence in Civic Education Award” from the Jack Miller Center, in recognition of his excellence in teaching for development and of the Honors College course “The Exceptional Country.” https://jackmillercenter.org/excellence-civic-education-award/. Dr. Wolf is an Assistant Professor of Government & Criminal Justice.

Dr. Joel Iliff was awarded the Dorothy Ross Prize from the Society for US Intellectual History, which is given annually for the best article in American intellectual history. https://s-usih.org/2022/08/announcement-dorothy-ross-prize/. Dr. Iliff is an Assistant Professor of History.

Dr. Micah Mattix received Christianity Today’s Culture and the Arts Book Award for his new co-edited volume “Christian Poetry in America Since 1940: An Anthology” https://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2022/december-web-only/christianity-today-2023-book-awards.html. Dr. Mattix is a Professor of English.
