Joshua McMullen, Ph.D.

Bio

Dr. Josh McMullen serves as dean of the College of Arts & Sciences and Assistant Vice President for Undergraduate Studies. He joined Regent University as Assistant Professor of History in August 2010.

Credentials

He received his M.A. and Ph.D. in History from the University of Missouri – Columbia. Prior to that, he received an M.A. in Theology and M.A. in Church History from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. McMullen holds bachelor’s degrees in Biblical Literature and Christian Education from Taylor University.

Publications

McMullen's research focuses on cultural and religious history of the United States. His first book, Under the Big Top: Big Tent Revivalism and American Culture, was published by Oxford University Press in 2015. He has recently written a chapter on revivalism for the The Oxford Handbook of Christian Fundamentalism.

McMullen has contributed chapters, articles, book reviews, and interviews in a variety of peer-reviewed books, academic journals, and news outlets, including The Christian Broadcasting Network, The Christian Science Monitor and Christianity Today.
