Carletta N. Artis, Psy.D.

Bio

Dr. Carletta N. Artis has led the way in higher education for 20 years. She began as an adjunct instructor and then a full-time assistant professor, teaching, advising and mentoring a diverse group of students from Texas to Virginia, traditional and nontraditional students, and military and civilian students.

Considered a trailblazer in teaching online, video teleconference, and face-to-face classes, Artis currently serves as the department chairperson for the Department of Counseling Ministries and an assistant professor at Regent University.

Artis is a transformational servant leader who is recognized for impacting her profession and community and helping diverse populations. She has served in the following roles: chief of psychology in a federal correctional facility; program supervisor in human services, director in the fields of adoption and foster care; supervisor and counselor to support families experiencing homelessness; professor to active-duty military service members, retired veterans and military spouses; mental health consultant to churches and pastoral staff.

With a background in psychology, coaching and education and a Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology, Artis offers insight for personal and professional development to hundreds of mentees and focuses on student-centered teaching and academic excellence that bridges the gap between higher education and application. In addition to her education, she is spiritually grounded and brings extraordinary empathy and wisdom.

Artis is also a certified life and leadership coach, author, motivational speaker, newspaper columnist, media host, CEO of Masterpiece Coaching & Consultation, and CEO of Masterpiece Coaching Institute. She enjoys bringing awareness to mental health, behavioral health, and resources for everyday problems to help communities enjoy healthier lives, relationships, and families.

Artis’ professional interests include strengthening marital and family relationships; church consultation, coaching and mental health training with church leadership staff; multicultural communication training; mentoring students in higher education and individuals in the community to reach their goals; and training leaders to be great.

Artis is currently working on her M.A. in Organizational Leadership at Regent University. She is happily married to her husband, Mr. Shelton R. Artis Jr., and they have two amazing daughters.
